How to get Isla de la Luna – Bolivia?
To get to Isla de la Luna – Bolivia, you need to be first in Copacabana. If you still don’t know how to do ir, inform yourself to get from Puno or from La Paz.

1.- By public boats :
Every day, you will find a shared public boat, that leaves from the Port at 8:30 a.m. Copacabana is a very small city, so you won’t have any problem to get to the Port.
Once there you will find a big white anchor monument, and some stands next to it, you can buy your ticket here , just be sure to say that your destination is ISLA DE LA LUNA. We suggest to be there at least 20 minutes before the boat departure to wait.
2.- Yampupata:
This is a private service that consists in taking a taxi from Copacabana to Yampupata Port. This is a well-known place, so it will be easy for you to arrgange transportation. The travel journey is around 45 minutes.
When you get there, you have to hire a private boat that takes you to Isla de la Luna. Consider that you need to be in Yampupata just until 5 in the afternoon, because if you arrive later it would be dangerous and dark to sail.
3.- Sampaya:
This is also a private service, you need to take a taxi from Copacabana to Sampaya Port, this is another well-known Port, asking a taxi driver to take you there won’t be a problem.
It’s very important for you to know, that you can’t go to Sampaya Port if you haven’t talked with your hotel in Isla de la Luna to coordinate a pick up boat IN ADVANCE, because you won’t find available boats there to make a transfer without a previous coordination.
Once you have organized a pick up, you can take the taxi, being sure that there will be somebody waiting for you at Sampaya Port.
